Industry and environmental groups in the United States are pushing for a ban on the use of R410A in new home and commercial air conditioning units starting January 1, 2025.

It is a non-combustible, non-explosive, and low-toxicity mixed working medium primarily used in household air conditioning, small and medium-sized commercial air conditioning, mobile air conditioning, dehumidifiers, freezer dryers, marine refrigeration equipment, industrial refrigeration, and other refrigeration equipment.
- The ODP of R410a is 0 and does not consume ozone; However, its GWP is high, 1725 times that of carbon dioxide, which is similar to R22, so R410A is not the ultimate environmentally friendly refrigerant solution.
